Four's Class and Transitional Kindergarten

The four's class is a time for tremendous social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The class begins to learn how to hold a pencil the proper way, write sentences, continue pronouncing the letters correctly and learn the simple math of adding. For example, 2+2. It might look simple, but there are obstacles that occur and different learning strategies that help overcome those hurdles. Through studies, it is know that young children learn though playing and making creative crafts. For example, when they are building with blocks and creating train tracks, they are teaching themselves problem solving techniques and physics. Playing is a great way to learn positive habits and self esteem. By the end of December, these kids would learn how to write all the twenty-six letters in the alphabet. We reinforce those letters by teaching sight words and creating sentences. They also learn how to write their own name. We learn as a class to construct simple sentences with the sight words they have learned. Through circle time, the children will learn the seasons, holidays, time, counting, place values, and much more.
